About
Indignadas (Outraged Women) consists of a visual record of participation of women in public protests around the world, including social movements like 15M (Spain), Occupy Wall Street (NYC), and feminist movements like Femen, Pussy Riot, SlutWalk, and Alfombra Roja (Red Carpet, Peru). I turn photographs from press and witnesses into drawings that I prints onto large format tarps for exhibitions in public spaces.
The aim of the Indignadas series is to make women's efforts more visible and place women at the center of these social struggles. A memory bank that shows future generations that social changes throughout history were made by women and men together.
The drawings show a female body not offered as support for the man's eyes, but as support for the political message. By transforming photographs into drawings, I set them in the supposed "timelessness" of art. This is another way to connect with society, by using the language of art to inmortalize these women's actions, preserve the memory of the protest, and keep the social movements alive.

Indignadas consiste en un registro visual de la participación femenina en las protestas públicas a nivel global. El registro incluye movimientos sociales como el 15M (España), Occupy Wall Street (Nueva York), y movimientos feministas como Femen, Pussy Riot, SlutWalk y Alfombra Roja (Perú). Convierto fotografías de prensa y de testigos de estas protestas en dibujos que se imprimen en lonas de gran formato para su exhibición en espacios públicos.
El objetivo de la serie Indignadas es hacer visible, reclamar y poner a la mujer en el centro de esta lucha social. Un registro de memoria que recuerde a las generaciones futuras que los cambios sociales a través de la historia fueron realizados por mujeres y hombres conjuntamente.
Los dibujos muestran un cuerpo femenino que no se ofrece como soporte para los ojos del hombre, sino como soporte para el mensaje político. Al transformar las fotografías en dibujos, las ubico en una supuesta "atemporalidad" del arte. Esta es otra manera de conectar con la sociedad, usando el lenguaje del arte para inmortalizar estas acciones, difundir la protesta y preservar la memoria de las mujeres.
