Multidisciplinary project
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía
Madrid-Spain

Artist: Suzanne Lacy
Curator: Berta Sichel - MNCARS

Throughout more than a year, the American artist Suzanne Lacy has developed this multidisciplinary project, artistic and political at once, from a proposal by curator Berta Sichel from Reina Sofia Art Center National Museum, in the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25, 2010). Lacy, collaborating with artists, activists, social organizations and government entities, took a position as observer and commentator on media and official discourses on gender violence in Spain, studying the mechanisms that classified the narratives and discursive strategies that represented in the public sphere.

Sleeping Beauties collaborates through Antimuseo collecting stories of women who have experienced violence, outside and inside the private space.
